Hideout is a pixel-art virtual office your team can customize room by room. Walk between rooms, talk, and work together as if you were in a real office — wherever you actually are.

The Free plan is genuinely free. No credit card, no hidden charges. It does come with usage limits, and paid plans are on the way soon.

Every plan supports unlimited users, because we charge for data usage rather than headcount. Invite as many colleagues as you like.

Hideout runs in your web browser and as a desktop app. In the browser there is nothing to install — we recommend Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. The desktop app is available for Windows and macOS, for anyone who would rather keep Hideout open all day separately from their browser tabs.

The features are the same, because the desktop app runs the same Hideout. What it adds is the convenience of a real app: push to talk even when the Hideout window is not in front, tuck it away in the system tray, start it with your computer, and never lose your session by closing a tab. If you would rather not install anything, the browser version works exactly as before.

Hideout is a lightweight app — if your computer browses the web smoothly, it can run Hideout. On Windows you need Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit). On macOS you need macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later on an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer); Intel Macs are not supported yet.

Click the download button for your operating system and choose where to save the file. On Windows, open the downloaded .exe and follow the installer. On macOS, open the .dmg and drag Hideout into your Applications folder. Then launch the app and sign in with your existing account.

No new account — sign in with the one you already have. Your rooms, office layout, teammates and settings are all the same, so you can move between the app and your browser whenever you like and see exactly the same thing.

Hideout's features and content update automatically every time you open the app, because it loads the latest Hideout directly. You get new releases at the same time as everyone on the web. The app itself gets a new download now and then, when there are improvements to the app shell.

On Windows, go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps, select Hideout and choose Uninstall. On macOS, drag Hideout from your Applications folder to the Trash. Uninstalling does not affect your account or your team data, and you can go straight back to using Hideout in your browser.
